Frequently asked questions
What makes Jungle Açaí Co different from other açaí suppliers?
We are Malaysia-based, which means significantly faster transit times to markets across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa compared to suppliers sourcing direct from Brazil. Our açaí sorbet range holds JAKIM halal certification (Malaysia's Islamic development authority), recognised across Muslim-majority markets globally. We operate a drop-ship model in Malaysia and Thailand with no minimum stock commitment, and we support new buyers with market entry guidance on pricing, menu positioning, and logistics. All our products are certified organic, single-origin from Brazil, with no artificial sweeteners, preservatives, or colouring.
Is açaí considered halal in Muslim-majority markets?
Yes. Açaí is a fruit with no animal derivatives, alcohol, or prohibited ingredients.
However, the processed product must carry recognised halal certification, not just a self-declaration. Our açaí sorbet range holds JAKIM certification, Malaysia's Islamic development authority, which is recognised across Muslim-majority markets globally including Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and the Middle East.
Which countries do you export to?
We distribute directly within Malaysia and Thailand. For international buyers, we export globally via FOB reefer container from Port Klang, Malaysia, with no country restrictions.
We currently supply to markets including Cambodia, Pakistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka, and are open to any market worldwide. Estimated transit times from Malaysia: Cambodia approximately 7–12 days, Pakistan approximately 10–18 days, Egypt approximately 18–25 days, Ethiopia via Djibouti approximately 25–40 days.
If you are interested in importing açaí into your market, get in touch via our enquiry form or WhatsApp +60 11-18978839 and we will confirm feasibility, lead times, and freight costs for your specific destination.
Do you export açaí outside Southeast Asia?
Yes, we export globally. There are no country restrictions. If you are based outside Southeast Asia, get in touch with your country, estimated order volume, and products you are interested in and we will advise on feasibility, pricing, and logistics.
Can I get açaí delivered to Cambodia, Pakistan, Egypt, or Ethiopia?
Yes. We export to Cambodia, Pakistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, and other markets globally via FOB reefer container from Port Klang, Malaysia.
Estimated transit times from Malaysia:
Cambodia approximately 7–12 days,
Pakistan approximately 10–18 days,
Egypt approximately 18–25 days,
Ethiopia via Djibouti approximately 25–40 days.
All export orders require a 30-day production lead time.
Contact us with your country and estimated order volume for a current freight quote.
Why source açaí from a Southeast Asia-based supplier rather than directly from Brazil?
Most açaí originates in Brazil, but for importers in Asia, the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, sourcing from a Malaysia-based supplier makes significantly more practical and commercial sense. Here is why.
Transit time
Açaí is a frozen product. Every extra week at sea reduces your remaining shelf life and ties up working capital in transit.
Freight from Brazil to most of Asia and Africa typically takes 25–40 days. From Malaysia, the same destinations are reached in a fraction of the time:
Cambodia: approximately 7–12 days
Pakistan: approximately 10–18 days
Egypt via Suez: approximately 18–25 days
Indonesia: approximately 8–14 days
For a market like Pakistan or Cambodia, that is a 15–25 day difference per shipment — which compounds significantly over a year of regular orders in terms of cash flow, stock planning, and product freshness on arrival.
Halal certification
Brazilian açaí producers are not automatically halal-certified. If you are importing into a Muslim-majority market like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, or anywhere else where halal compliance matters, you need a supplier whose products carry recognised certification.
Our açaí sorbet range holds JAKIM halal certification, issued by Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development. JAKIM is internationally recognised and accepted across Muslim-majority markets globally. The certificate ships with your standard export documentation package. No additional certification steps required on your end.
Market knowledge
A Brazil-based supplier knows how to grow and process açaí. What they typically do not know is what sweetness profile works in Bangkok, what portion size is standard in a Karachi café, how to price an açaí bowl profitably in Kuala Lumpur, or what the import documentation process looks like for your specific country.
We work daily with buyers across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and beyond. That market knowledge is available to every client we work with — not just the large ones.
The honest trade-off
Going direct to Brazil has one genuine advantage: potential cost savings at very high volumes where the per-unit product cost from a Brazilian producer may be marginally lower. For most importers at standard commercial volumes, the transit time, halal certification, cold chain reliability, and market knowledge advantages of sourcing from Malaysia outweigh the marginal cost difference.
How does international shipping work?
We ship FOB (Free On Board). We coordinate everything up to loading onto the vessel at the Malaysian port, and the client takes responsibility from there.
All shipments are in reefer containers to maintain the cold chain. Standard shipments go in 20ft reefer containers (8 pallets) or 40ft reefer containers (16 pallets) depending on order volume. There is no minimum pallet requirement and you can ship as little as 1 pallet. The cost of the container is fixed regardless of how full it is, so most clients maximise their load to reduce cost per unit. The client is responsible for all freight, export agent, and shipping costs.
Is there a minimum order for international clients?
There is no minimum pallet requirement. You can ship as little as 1 pallet. Standard shipments go in 20ft reefer containers (8 pallets) or 40ft reefer containers (16 pallets) depending on order volume. Since the container cost is fixed regardless of how full it is, most clients maximise their load to reduce cost per unit. The full product range is available for export. We especially recommend the açaí sorbet range as our most popular export item.
What documents do I need to import frozen açaí into my country?
A reliable supplier will provide:
Certificate of Origin (required by most customs authorities)
Halal Certificate (essential for Muslim-majority markets)
Commercial Invoice, and
Packing List
These cover standard import requirements for most markets. Your local customs broker can advise on country-specific requirements. Jungle Açaí Co provides all of these as standard for every international shipment.
What are the payment terms for international orders?
All international orders are invoiced in USD. Payment is 50% deposit upon order confirmation, and the remaining 50% before the product is released to the export company. We do not extend credit terms for international orders.
How long does an international order take?
We require 30 days to produce a fresh batch from order confirmation. Transit time varies by destination: Cambodia approximately 7–12 days, Pakistan approximately 10–18 days, Egypt approximately 18–25 days, Ethiopia via Djibouti approximately 25–40 days.
Budget around 45-50 days from order confirmation to product arriving at your end. Contact us for estimated transit times to your specific country.
What are the payment terms for international orders?
All international orders are invoiced in USD. Payment terms are 50% deposit upon order confirmation, and the remaining 50% before the product is released to the freight company. We do not extend credit terms for first-time international orders.
Production lead time is 30 days from order confirmation. The balance payment is typically due before the end of the production period, so your shipment is ready to release the moment it is complete.
For clients placing repeat orders with an established track record, payment structure can be discussed on a case by case basis. Get in touch via WhatsApp at +60 11-18978839 or email hello@jungleacai.com to discuss your order.
How long does frozen açaí last during shipping?
Açaí sorbet and soft serve mix have a 12-month shelf life frozen. Pulp sachets have a 24-month shelf life. All shipments travel in reefer containers maintaining frozen temperatures throughout transit.
What export documentation do you provide?
We provide all standard export documentation as part of every international shipment: Certificate of Origin, JAKIM Halal Certificate, Commercial Invoice, and Packing List.
These cover the standard customs requirements for most markets globally. If your market requires additional documentation, advise us at time of order and we will confirm what is available.
What is the price for international orders?
International pricing depends on volume, destination, and product mix. WhatsApp us at +60 11-18978839 with your country, estimated order volume, and products you are interested in and we will get back to you with a quotation.
Is your açaí halal-certified?
Yes. Our açaí sorbet range is halal-certified. All our products are also organic, dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, and cruelty-free — suitable for a wide range of dietary requirements including Muslim-owned cafés and restaurants.
Are your açaí products organic?
Yes. All our açaí products are certified organic and free from artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and colouring.
Where is your açaí sourced from?
All our açaí is single-origin organic açaí from Brazil — the native origin of the açaí palm. Products are imported frozen to preserve quality and nutritional integrity throughout the supply chain.
What açaí products does Jungle Açaí Co supply?
We supply four formats:
Ready-to-serve açaí sorbet in 5L tubs (four flavour variants)
Frozen açaí pulp sachets (100g each, sold in cartons of 60)
Açaí soft serve mix (4L bags, sold in bags of 3 per carton), and
Açaí powder (1kg packs)
All products are single-origin organic açaí from Brazil. We also supply a full gelato range, fruit sorbets, and yogurt. Get in touch for the full list.
Product sizes and pricing vary by market. See the Malaysia and Thailand sections below for details.
What is the difference between açaí sorbet, açaí pulp sachets, and açaí soft serve?
Açaí sorbet (5L tubs)
Ready to scoop, no prep, no blending. Best for speed and simplicity.
Açaí pulp sachets (100g)
Blend to order with frozen fruit. Full control over texture and thickness.
Açaí soft serve mix (4L bags)
Pour into a soft serve machine. Creamy swirled texture for cones and cups.
If you're just starting out, the sorbet tubs are the easiest entry point.
Can I serve your açaí without a blender?
Yes. Our ready-to-serve açaí sorbet tubs require no blending. Scoop straight from the tub into your serving bowl. No machine, no prep required. This is the easiest entry point for cafés adding açaí for the first time. Our frozen pulp sachets require a blender, and our soft serve mix requires a soft serve machine. If you want the simplest possible setup, start with the sorbet tubs.
How many servings are in a 5L açaí sorbet tub?
At a standard 150–180g portion size, a 5L tub yields approximately 20–27 servings. At a retail price of RM18–25 per bowl in Malaysia, gross revenue per tub is RM360–675 before toppings and labour.
At a standard 150–180g portion size for Thailand, a 4L tub yields approximately 16–22 servings. At a retail price of THB200–280 per bowl, gross revenue per tub is THB3,200–6,160 before toppings and labour.
What flavours does your açaí sorbet come in?
We currently offer four açaí sorbet flavours, all available in 5L tubs:
Açaí Classic (RM145) — our best seller, higher açaí concentration and richer flavour
Açaí No Added Sugar (RM170)
Açaí Chocolate (RM170)
Açaí Yogurt (RM190)
What are the two variants of your açaí pulp sachets?
Our frozen açaí pulp sachets come in two variants, both sold in cartons of 60 x 100g sachets:
Just Jungle — unsweetened. Best for cafés that want full control over sweetness.
Jungle Treat — lightly sweetened with cane sugar (Malaysia) or guaraná extract (Thailand)
Both are certified organic, halal-certified, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Pricing varies by market — see Malaysia and Thailand sections below.
What is the difference between açaí sorbet and açaí soft serve?
Sorbet comes in 5L tubs and is scooped into a bowl. No machine needed, just a freezer.
Soft serve mix goes into a soft serve machine, producing a swirled creamy texture for cones and cups. If you already have a soft serve machine, the mix is a great addition. If not, start with the sorbet.
How do I use your frozen açaí pulp sachets in a commercial kitchen?
Run the unopened sachet under water for 10 seconds to loosen the pulp, then break it into smaller pieces inside the packet before cutting it open.
Add the contents to your blender with frozen fruit.
A standard commercial ratio is 1 sachet (100g), 1 frozen banana, and 80ml coconut water. Blend until completely smooth.
One sachet yields one standard açaí bowl portion. For consistency across service, pre-portion your toppings and keep sachets frozen until needed.
Is açaí powder suitable for café bowls?
No, we don't recommend açaí powder for bowl use. The texture and flavour don't compare to frozen pulp or sorbet. Powder works well as a smoothie booster, in baking (muffins, bliss balls, pancakes), or stirred into lattes and yoghurt.
For café bowls, use the sorbet tubs.
Can you customise the açaí to suit my menu?
Yes. We can adjust the sweetness level to suit your market or customer preferences. A minimum order of 20 tubs applies for custom sweetness runs. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Do you supply gelato and other frozen desserts as well?
Yes. Beyond our açaí range, we also supply a full gelato selection, fruit sorbets, and yogurt in 5L tubs. Our most popular sorbet flavours include Raspberry, Lemon, Mango, and Mixed Berries.
Our gelato range covers over 25 flavours including local favourites like Durian D24, Cempedak Madu, Salted Gula Melaka, and Chendol, alongside classics like Pistachio, Tiramisu, and Matcha.
Get in touch for the full product list and pricing.
What kinds of businesses do you supply to?
We supply cafés, restaurants, dessert bars, juice bars, hotels, and distributors. From single-outlet cafés adding açaí to their menu for the first time, to multi-location operators and regional distributors across Southeast Asia.
How long does frozen açaí last?
Açaí sorbet and soft serve mix have a 12-month shelf life stored frozen at -18°C or below. Pulp sachets and powder have a 24-month shelf life. Once thawed, do not refreeze.
How should I store frozen açaí once delivered?
Keep all frozen products at -18°C or below at all times. Do not leave at room temperature for extended periods. Keep sorbet tub lids sealed tightly between uses to prevent freezer burn. Once thawed, do not refreeze and use within 24-48 hours.
Is selling açaí profitable for a café in Malaysia?
Yes, when managed well. A 5L tub of Classic sorbet at RM145 yields approximately 20–27 servings at a standard 150–180g portion.
At a retail price of RM18–25 per bowl, your gross revenue per tub is RM360–675, a strong margin before toppings and labour. Açaí consistently performs as a high-margin menu item across Malaysia.
